Before heading out to school Anthony was excited that it was Friday which meant he wouldn't have any homework.
He said, "Mom, since I won't have any homework can you play with me?"
"I don't know Anthony, I'm doing laundry today which means there will be lots of folding to do when you get home."
Anthony said, "It's just that it seems like you don't play with us that much"
I was about to protest his statement when I realized that he was right. I don't take those precious moments often enough to play with my children. My chores will never be done and there will always be some project needing my attention but my children will not always be asking for me to play with them. My goal is to spend more quality time with my children (even if that means I don't get the dishes done!)
Today we played legos and two games of candy land!

Oh, Tamara, that is so precious that he asked. I have recently come to the same realization. It is nice to have the reminders, because it is easy to slip back into the "mommy is busy" mode. Very fun to play legos!
I feel the came way a lot. Although short of Brooke needing me to pull apart a lego I don't get asked for that too often. Brian can create amazing things with Legos. The children have discovered that is not my talent so They usually wait for Daddy.
But I am glad they ask, it reminds me to take the time with them. I don't know if you listen to country music but a Trace Adkins song called "you're gonna miss this" is a good reminder of the same subject. It is a sweet song. Sorry for the novel here. :)
