Book Completed

Anthony did it!

He finished reading The Tale of Despereaux and he really enjoyed it. On a scale of 1 to 10 Anthony said he would give the book a 10!

We've had fun talking about things that happened in the book and Anthony is looking forward to our movie night.

Now I just need to find another book for him to read. Any suggestions?

Has he read "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane"? It is by the same author as the Tale of Despereaux.

I read it to our girls a couple of months ago and they liked it.

I'm reading The Swiss Family Robinson with them now, which I would not recommend having him read! It's really good but the writing style is difficult to understand.

Thanks for the suggestion. He loves having books read to him but it has been so hard to find books that he will sit down and actually finish. We will give "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" a try.

I love getting book suggestions from other parents, pass along any other ideas you get!

Our public library just opened! Hooray. (We moved here almost a year and a half ago and it was closed then, I am so happy!)

How old is he? Has he tried Beverly Cleary books? Henry Huggins or The Mouse and the Motorcycle and whatnot? There are also some really funny ones that are all letters, like Regarding the Fountain. Very entertaining.

He is almost 9 and in the 3rd grade. He has read the Mouse and the Motorcycle books and really enjoyed then. I will look for some more Beverly Clearly books for him. We need to update our bookshelf. We have lots of Nancy Drew and girlie books and for some reason he isn't very interested in taking those to school to read. Wonder why!
