I recently finished reading The Tale of Despereaux and really enjoyed it. What made it fun for me was knowing that Anthony would like the book. Michaela loves reading and will read just about anything. For Anthony it has been a bit more difficult to find the books that he is interested in. He often starts a book and then never finishes it.
When I finished reading The Tale of Despereaux I passed it onto Anthony with the incentive that when (notice how I said when and not if) he finished the book I would take him to see the movie. It has been fun to see how excited he is about the story and talk things over with him. He even called me the other night while I was at the grocery store just to tell me about something that had happened in the book.
Looks like I will be going to the movies soon!

Oh, I want to read that book and the movie looks cute1
I'm glad you liked it! I read the book a few year ago. It was cute.
Great incentive! I'll have to borrow the book from the librar!
let me know how you like the movie
I think it is great!! It helps not to be scared when the movie is more scary than a book too. We are trying to set reading books first as a rule... first read the book then watch a movie. I grew up doing it but Jeremy didn't. I wonder if it will ever work. So far Sonia hasn't seen Cenderella yet because she is not much into a book. We read more Russian stories and watch Russian three bears and other cartoons.
Great idea! I will have to do that with Anson and Levi!
